Small heels equal feminine elegance

To Hedi Slimane, the artistic director of the Saint Laurent fashion house, the kitten heel is a nice

‘lady’ variant of the heel.

The small heel - 3.5 and 5cm - was born in 1950, counteracting the heavy, solid design of the shoes

of the war. The curves in this design were in tune with the lines of ‘New Look’ invented by Christian

Dior in 1947. No longer in vogue, the practical wedges and platforms of the ‘30s and ‘40s made way

for a court shoe with a higher, slender heel that perfectly complemented Dior’s overtly feminine

look. Dior’s creation was a stylish breath of fresh air, and after years of practical clothing, rationing

and ‘making do and mending’, women on both sides of the Atlantic were keen to embrace it. This

small heel was popularized by Audrey Hepburn in the film Breakfast at Tiffany's (Tiffany) in 1961.

Another pleasant day in the shop. A lovely lady came looking for a pair of shoes that would show off  her figure to the best advantage. It was not such a terrible challenge as I do believe one accessory (right shoe) is the key to a stylish, chic look. It does not matter if you are tall or small, slender or curvy -shoes are the easiest thing to adapt to your shape. Shoes are noticeable!

Therefore, there are a few styles that would make you look slimmer or to make you like you have very long legs. Most recommended are high-heels, they will change your posture, change the way you walk, change the way you feel, therefore change your whole look. Even better if they are pointy as will make your feet look narrower. So, if you can pull off a feline walk, know and can walk in high heels  stilettos are for you.

Boots, little trickier though, they could also make you look slimmer as long as they are just over or under your knee.

The "high" life

Sometimes comfort shoes is worth sacrificing for style. But not always. I do not believe you can ever get away with cheap shoes, Why? Well, they do look CHEAP. Even a bad leather shoe looks cheap, cracks and splits like plastic, and most certainly as we will be no give as you wear them will ruin your feet.
In the long run, bad  cheap shoes work out more expensive as they will not last more than a few months.
I believe a top-quality leather pair of shoes will last for many years, shoes are the symbol of what we want to be, express our fantasies in our footwear, in our look. Yes, a simple pair of shoes can transform our whole look, from a open-toed sandal or ballet flats to penny loafers.
